Incumbent to stand at Grenville

Grenville Stud has secured the stallion Incumbent to commence stud duties for the 2008 season.

Incumbent was one of the top 2 year olds last season (2006/07) his major victories being the VRC Sires Produce Stakes (G2) and the Inglis Premier Stakes (LR).

He retires to stud after injury cut short his racing career with $475,200 in earnings from 7 starts for two wins, two seconds and one third.

Incumbent will be the first son to stand at stud of the Australian International Racehorse of the Year (2003) and champion Australian 2 year old colt, Choisir.

Choisir was the leading first season sire in Australia last season and is currently the top second season sire by wins.

Incumbents dam is the unraced Rubiton mare Charlonne who is a ¾ sister to the brilliant Innovation Girl.

Graeme McCulloch the principal of Grenville Stud said “We are very lucky to secure a stallion of Incumbents calibre for Tasmanian stud duties.  This stallion ticks all the boxes:

·        he was an outstanding 2 year old winning at the highest level

·        he is colonial bred and the colonials are heavily sought after because they are out performing the        imported stallions

·        he is a very nice type of horse with a good temperament.”

Incumbent will stand for a service fee of $4400 including GST.
